Theni hospital successfully completes Tamil Nadu’s first-ever bone marrow transplant
Nivendran from Tamil Nadu’s Periyakulam in Theni district whose leg was swollen has recovered from bone cancer after doctors in Rajaji Hospital successfully completed the state’s first bone marrow transplant
Theni: Tamil Nadu has completed its first ever bone marrow transplant in Theni district’s Periyakulam on a person named Nivendran.
Nivendran was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer and received treatment for it at the Rajaji Hospital in Madurai. The transplant cost over Rs 4 lakh and the surgical replacement of the limbs was done without dislocation of the foot.
This is the first successful bone marrow transplant in Tamil Nadu.
