Mumbai rains: Social media request prompts IAF, NDRF and police to rescue tourists from resort

A team of vacationers stuck at a resort in Mumbai after water level rose to seven feet, requested help on social media. This prompted the Air Force, Army, and police teams to come to their rescue

Mumbai: NDRF, Air Force, Army, and police teams rescued a team of tourists from River Winds Resort at Shahad village in Thane district on Saturday, after they sought help through social media. Army personnel rushed to the spot following the request.

Heavy rains overnight caused the water level to rise to seven feet. Santosh Nair, founder and managing director of Miklens Bio Pvt Ltd, posted a request for help on his Facebook page. R Raja, a citizen took to Twitter to state that over 45 were stuck at River Winds Resort, next to Meridian school, and requested for help.
