Writers, pro-Kannada activists and people gathered at Royal Circle in Ballari to pay tribute to litterateur Girish Karnad, who passed away on June 10 in Bengaluru
Ballari: Jnanpith awardee, actor-director, theatre person Girish Karnad passed away on June 10 at 6.30 am at his residence in Bengaluru due to multiple organ failure. He was suffering from a respiratory disorder. Pro-Kannada organisations, litterateurs, writers paid tribute to the departed soul by holding a candlelight vigil at Royal Circle in Ballari. Karnad's last rites were held without any rituals at Kallahalli crematorium in Bengaluru.
