Karnataka JDS minister praises PM Modi; defends BJP over allegations of poaching MLAs

Bengaluru: In a major embarrassment for the Congress-JD(S) coalition government in Karnataka, state higher education minister GT Devegowda has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah while defending the BJP over allegations of ‘Operation Kamala’ and quitting of two Congress MLAs. On Monday (July 1), Congressmen Anand Singh and Ramesh Jarkiholi had quit as MLAs. The BJP was accused of poaching rival MLAs. JD(S) leader Gowda said both Modi and Shah should not be blamed for what is happening in Karnataka. PM Modi is busy preparing for Budget and looking after international issues. The BJP can't be blamed for MLAs resigning in the state, he said.
