
Karnataka’s Bagalkot battles floods to hoist Indian tricolour
Villagers of Shurpali in Bagalkot district of Karnataka celebrated India’s 73rd Independence Day braving floodwaters to hoist the Indian flag. Bagalkot is one of the districts that is reeling under floods and torrential rains.
Bagalkot: Shurpali villagers in Karnataka’s Bagalkot district braved floods and incessant rains to hoist the Indian national flag.
Villagers rang in India’s 73rd Independence Day by hoisting the Indian tricolour using rafts to wade through floodwaters.
The flag was hoisted with utmost respect at three places in the village including a village panchayat, a government school and a location near a youth organization office in Jamakhandi taluk of Bagalkot. Many villagers unfurled the tricolour while standing in knee-deep water.
