Chhath Pooja: Devotees celebrate ancient Hindu Vedic festival with fervour

Chhath Pooja is an ancient Hindu Vedic festival historically native to the Indian subcontinent. The festival is to worship the Sun God and the rituals are rigorous and are observed over a period of four days.

Patna (Bihar): Hindu devotees in Patna gathered to perform rituals during the ongoing ‘Chhath Puja’. The four-day of Chhath festival began on October 31. On the last two days, devotees perform rituals and offer evening and morning 'arghyas' (offerings) to the ‘Sun God’ by taking a dip in a river or other water bodies. The age-old festival is celebrated mostly by people from Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh.
