Brahmos missile engine found in Ramanathapuram shore
The retrieved substance from the sea had a logo of Brahmos with the date October 24, 2016, inscribed on it. This date is suspected to be the date of manufacture.
Ramanathapuram: Coastal Security Group (CSG) on Wednesday retrieved a second stage engine of a suspected Brahmos missile, which was found in the Palk Bay on Panaikulam seashore.
Being alerted by the fishermen, the marine police team led by inspector Felix Suresh Peter and sub-inspector G Ayyanar pulled out the 15-ft long ‘engine’ weighing one tonne from the sea.
Police suspected that the cylindrical object was a liquid propellant engine of the ‘surface to ship’ Brahmos missile and it could have fallen into the Bay of Bengal after it was test fired in Odisha coast.
