MyNation caught up with Sanjeev Balyan, BJP candidate from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, who identifies his constituency is a land of revolutionaries. He says while the farmers’ issues catch the imagination of the nation, most movements by the class originate in Muzaffarnagar.
While Balyan says that his area is certainly proud of the IAF airstrike in Pakistan’s Balakot, they also see his developmental work in the region such as increasing the number of highways, upgrade of the railway facilities, connecting the area to the national capital region, etc.
Balyan claims that he is not fighting the election on the basis of caste or religion but on the basis of his performance in the last five years.
When Shashank Shekhar of MyNation seeks clarification on Yogi Adityanath’s Ali-Bajrangbali comment, the BJP Lok Sabha candidate says the chief minister was forced to say it after BSP chief Mayawati tried to polarise the electorate by addressing the Muslims of the state separately.
Balyan says all elections are tough contests and this one is no exception. He refused to predict the margin of his victory, which he is otherwise confident of.
