The CBI has lodged an FIR in a case of alleged irregularities in the disinvestment of 21 state-owned sugar mills leading to a loss of Rs 1,179 crore to the Uttar Pradesh exchequer incurred during Bahujan Samaj Party's rule when Mayawati was the chief minister

In its last Cabinet briefing ahead of the Lok Sabha, Union Minister Arun Jatiley along with the CCEA listed out various approvals. The Delhi Metro's Phase IV project is one among the many things that was given the nod.

The farmer had sold his sugarcane to Vijayalakshmi Sugar Mills. As the company did not harvest it on time the farmer did it himself. Following this, company refused to buy his crop.

BJP leaders Umesh Katti and Prabhakar Kore own sugar mills, too. Ramesh Jarkiholi-owned sugar mill has to pay Rs 19 crore to sugarcane growers.

Farmers are expressing doubts if Kumaraswamy-led Karnataka government has yielded to pressure from sugar mill owners. 

Sugar mills in Belagavi, Bagalkote, Haliyal, Kalaghataki, Vijayapura, Kalburgi, Bidar and Mandya districts together reportedly owe Rs 480 crore to the farmers.

Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy has convened a meeting to find a solution about the problems sugarcane growers are facing. But farmers say their demands aren’t fulfilled 
 

Chief minister HD Kumaraswamy has but received support from G Parameshwara, the deputy chief minister who, pacified the farmers. Parameshwara said that the state government would do everything in its capacity to help the farmers.

In a face-off, BJP leader Yeddyurappa slammed JD(S)-Congress government in Karnataka, whereas JD(S) leader Bandeppa Kashempur said it is a pro-farmer government. Watch this mash-up
