"Excited to announce: Its (sic) a boy, and my girl is doing great and keeping strong as usual #Alhumdulilah. Thank you for the wishes and Duas, we are humbled 🙏🏼 #BabyMirzaMalik (sic)," Malik tweeted to his nearly two million followers.

Sania delivered the child on Tuesday (October 30). Malik and Saina had got married in April 2010.

In April, Sania had said that their child would have Mirza Malik as surname.

"Today I will tell you a secret. My husband and I have spoken about it and we have decided that whenever we have a child, the child will have Mirza Malik as a surname and not just Malik. So that’s where we stand as a family including my husband. He actually wants a daughter," Sania said during a panel discussion on ‘Gender Bias’ at the Goa Fest 2018.

Also, she had said that people wished a baby boy for her. However, she wanted them to pray for a girl child.

"Now I’m pregnant and every time I meet someone, the first thing that people say is they would pray that I am blessed with a baby boy but I request them not to do this and if they want to pray for me, pray for a girl child instead, why are you praying for a boy child? That is the sort of mindset that we grow up with consciously or subconsciously," the 31-year-old tennis player had said.
