A recent survey by YouGov has shown that former Indian cricket team captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni is way more popular than current skipper Virat Kohli, or for that matter, even Sachin Tendulkar.

Dhoni continues to be favoured despite his laborious batting in the recently-concluded limited-overs series against England.

The YouGov study also placed Dhoni in the list of the most popular people of the world.

Dhoni emerged as the most-voted sportsperson in the 'Indian' category, with an 'admiration score' of 7.7%. He was the second most-admired Indian in the list, the first being occupied by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Dhoni was followed in the list by Tendulkar, with an 'admiration score' of 6.8%. Kohli got a vote percentage of 4.8%, securing third postion in the list of the 'most voted sportsperson'.

Dhoni had led India to the World T20 in 2007 and also the 50-over World Cup in 2011, apart from being one of the greatest wicketkeeper-batsman that the country has ever produced.

In the history of ODIs, Dhoni was the fourth Indian and 12th person to have secured 10,000 runs.
