Indian wrestler Jaskanwar Singh Gill was shamed in Turkey after he was disallowed from participating at a tournament there for wearing the Sikh headgear ‘Patka’. The organisers, United World Wrestling (UWW), also asked him to tie his hair up like women wrestlers. Gill refused to participate, which would have been his international debut. He has asked India's Sports Ministry to intervene.
