Bengaluru: Virat Kohli and Co have been pushed to a corner in the Test series in England. They are in danger of losing the five-Test series after defeats in the opening two contests.

After the humiliation at Lord’s, where India lost by an innings and 159 runs, Kohli wrote to the fans, urging them to back the team and not give up on the side.

Kohli, who is known to speak his mind and interact with fans through social media, has now used the platform to send out an emotional message to the Indian supporters.

“Sometimes we win and other times we learn. You never give up on us and we promise to never give up on you either. Onwards and upwards,” Kohli wrote on his Facebook page on Monday, a day after Lord’s debacle.

The India skipper posted this message with a picture of the Indian team in a huddle.

Kohli’s post attracted more than 3,000 comments and it was also shared by over 2,000 users. More than 75,000 people liked it.

"I am not very proud of the way we played to be honest. It is first time in the last five Test matches we've been outplayed. But credit to England, they were clinical. When a team plays like that they deserve to be on the winning side. And we deserved to lose," Kohli had said after the match.

During the second Test, Kohli had back problems and batted in the second innings with pain. However, he expressed confidence of being fully fit for the third Test starting in Nottingham on August 18.

"It's five days to go. I am confident I will be fine in five days time with a bit of rehabilitation. I should be okay," he had said on Sunday.
