After Tim Paine sledged Rishabh Pant on Friday, during the third day of the Boxing Day Test match between India and Australia, the latter hit back calling him ‘temporary skipper’.

On the fourth day of the third Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Pant returned the favour to Pain when the Australian was batting in the second innings.

The Aussie captain had pinched the youngster by reminding him that he has been dropped from the ODI team while he was batting. Pant, although didn't respond to this on the third day, he made sure to give him a mouthful in the fourth innings of the game by calling him a 'temporary skipper'.

Rishabh wasted no time and started the banter with Mayank Agarwal straightaway in the 40th over when Paine was yet to open his account with the bat.

"You got a special guest today...come on manki (Mayank Agarwal). Have you heard a word temporary captain? Hai mank (Mayank)? Have you heard the word temporary captain ever? You don't need anything to get him out. He loves to talk, that's the only thing he can do," Pant said while standing behind the wickets.

After the cultural change in Australia, the series between India and Australia was expected to be sledge-free but it seems like the hosts can’t do anything better than sledging the Indian players right from start of the series. Pant being the first player to be sledged, he too didn't stop from hitting back at the Australians right in the first Test.

Then, captain Virat Kohli and Paine went on to make headlines in the second Test, exchanging words during the game in Perth. The ongoing Test didn't see Kohli doing anything to sledge the Australians till now. But Paine and Mitchell Starc teased Pant on Friday.

Pant had the last laugh when he caught Paine off Ravindra Jadeja for 26. Australia were facing defeat, ending the day at 258/8 chasing 399.
