Adelaide: India’s 31-run victory against Australia in the first Test in Adelaide will forever be etched in the memories of the nation’s fans. Virat Kohli and his men achieved an incredible feat which no other previous Indian side had managed Down Under.

It was for the first time in 71 years that India had won the first Test of a series in Australia. And also this was India’s third overseas victory this year, making them the first from Asia to do so. Earlier in 2018, India had won two Tests, one each in South Africa and England.

The contest was a thrilling one and it was decided on the fifth and final day. It was a superb comeback by India after losing four wickets in the first session of the first day after deciding to bat first. Cheteshwar Pujara was the chief architect of the win with a century (123) and a fifty (71). He won the Man-of-the-match award.

Apart from the hard-fought cricket, the match had multiple moments which tickled the funny bone of the fans.

Here is a list of the best three

1. Virat Kohli's on-field dance

Kohli is hardly the guy to keep his sentiments from showing, be it anger or elation. Thus it was no wonder that on the third day of the Test, when the Indian bowling side dismissed the hosts for 235 to hand the team a slim 15-run lead, it made him very happy as the Indian captain was seen doing a little jig and showing off his dancing skills.

This video immediately went viral.

2. Rohit Sharma being ignored by Ravichandran Ashwin

Ashwin had a successful Test, taking six wickets. He took three in his 34-over spell as the Australian side were limited to 235 in the first innings. Ashwin, continuing his form in the second essay, took the first Aussie wicket in the 11th over, dismissing opener Aaron Finch. The whole team came to congratulate Ashwin.

However, as Rohit Sharma, came towards Ashwin and tried to shake hands with him with the intention to congratulate him after the brilliant over, the Tamil Nadu off-spinner was having a conversation with someone else.

Thus, he didn’t realise that Rohit was expecting a response from him and left him hanging. This elicited quite a few laughs from the netizens.

3. Ravi Shastri's hilarious comment on famous win

Australia needed 74 runs to win when the ninth wicket fell. While the game seemed in India's pocket and was expected to be finished in a few balls, the tables turned as the last batsman Josh Hazlewood built an inspiring partnership with Nathan Lyon.

This 42-run partnership almost gave a mini heart attack to the Indian fans as the bowlers seemed frustrated and tired and the tailenders were toiling hard to win the match.

However, finally to the relief of Indian supporters, Ashwin bowled a superb ball which was completely misjudged by Hazlewood, resulting in a historic Indian win. The Indian coach Ravi Shastri spoke about this nail-biting finish after the game.

While talking to former India captain Sunil Gavaskar in the Sony TV studio in Mumbai, he said, “Sach bole to goti muh mein aa gaye the (To be honest, we almost had b***s in our mouth).” This left Gavaskar and the fans in splits. Shastri’s comment is a local lingo in Mumbai cricket.
