Dhaka: Cricket is generally considered to be a gentleman's game. However, certain incidents prove otherwise calling for some stringent action.

Bangaldesh's Sabbir Rahman found himself out of the squad of Asia Cup 2018 for the first time since making a debut in international cricket in 2014.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan clarified that the cricketer will get a chance to present his part of the story and only after hearing him will the disciplinary committee arrive at a decision.

"The disciplinary committee will hold Sabbir’s hearing after which we will reach a decision," Hassan was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

"He is not in the ODI squad, which could also be because of the hearing’s influence. One has to be given a chance to defend himself. We will take appropriate action," Hassan added.

He further stated, "When we see our punishment has no impact on a cricketer, we have to give him something that’s more stringent. We also have to be fair in our judgment. If it (the allegation) is proved, however, we have to take a final decision which, for me, is being ousted from the national team."

Sabbir Rahman is being investigated on the charges of misbehaving on social media with a fan after the second ODI between Bangladesh and West Indies last month.

As a short term measure of this, BCB is considering a ban on use of social media during tours.

Along with Shabbir, Nasir Hossain and Mosaddek Hossain have also been called by the disciplinary committee for an investigation of their cases.

Asia Cup will be played in United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 15 to 28.
