A controversy erupted when Virat Kohli criticised an Indian fan who stated that he doesn't like the captain’s game and prefers watching England and Australian batsmen over him.

Kohli faced a severe backlash from all corners for his controversial response to a fan during a live chat on Wednesday in which he replied, “Okay, I don’t think you should live in India then you should go and live somewhere else, no? Why are you living in our country and loving other countries? I don’t mind you not liking me but I don’t think you should live in our country and like other things. Get your priorities right.”

Following this, Kohli posted his own stand on the whole debate. He said that he is all for “freedom of choice” and urged his fans to “take it light”.

The Twitterati trolled him for his unsavoury comments to which he replied, “I guess trolling isn’t for me guys, I’ll stick to getting trolled! I spoke about how ‘these Indians’ was mentioned in the comment and that’s all. I’m all for freedom of choice. Keep it light guys and enjoy the festive season. Love and peace to all”.

After this diplomatic stance from the 30-year old, netizens backed their favourite captain and also called it a once-in-a-while error from world’s leading batsman.
