Chennai: Minutes after Jayam Ravi-starrer Comali trailer was released on Saturday (August 3), Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth’s fans showed their disagreement as the movie allegedly mocked Rajini's political entry.

The trailer, which was released on Saturday (August 3) evening reached over 1 million views as of Sunday (August 4) morning.

The film "Comali" is directed by Pradeep Ranganathan, and stars Jayam Ravi, Kajal Aggarwal, Yogi Babu, Samyuktha Hegde and KS Ravi Kumar in lead roles.

In the trailer, Jayam Ravi's character is seen waking up after being in a coma for 16 years with no idea on how things had evolved around him.

But what enraged Rajinikanth's fans in the movie trailer?

Towards the end of the trailer, when Jayam Ravi's character wakes up from a coma, Yogi Babu's character switches on the TV which shows a news channel playing Rajinikanth's press conference from December 2017. "My entry into politics is for sure," proclaims Rajini on TV when Jayam Ravi's character refuses to believe it.

Fans too found it unbelievable and questioned how the movie which is set in 2016 spoke of Rajini’s entry into politics which was announced in December 2017.

The trailer also takes a dig at one of the unresolved problems in Chennai, constructing buildings over lake beds. "Shall we go and take a bath in the eri (lake) that we used to play in when we were young?" asks Jayam Ravi as he walks out of an apartment building. Yogi Babu's character quickly retorts, "You're walking on it now."

#BoycottComali began trending on Twitter soon after Rajinikanth’s fans saw their favourite actor shown in “negative light” and asked the director to remove the scene.
