New Delhi: Continuing its drive to flush out terrorists from Jammu and Kashmir valley, the security forces neutralised three terrorists in an encounter in Keller area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

The encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in the wee hours of Thursday after Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a joint operation.

According to the officials, bodies of the slain terrorists have been recovered from the encounter site. The cordon and search operation in the area is still going on.

Police also recovered some weapons from the encounter site.

Meanwhile, a gunfight broke out between security forces and terrorists in Yaroo village of Langate, Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district where earlier a search and cordon operation was launched. They have input that two terrorists are hiding in the area.

Yesterday night, the Army’s 30 RR and SOG have launched a cordon-and-search operation at Yaroo village following specific information about the presence of militants inside a residential house. Internet was suspended and lights were installed in the area to conduct the searches.

On Wednesday, terrorists shot dead a civilian in Kachdoora village of Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district. He was identified as Tanveer Ahmed (24) from Bemnipora, Shopian. Security forces have cordoned the area to nab the attacker.
