Bengaluru: Two MLA constituencies – Kundagol and Chincholi – will go for by-polls on May 19. These by-polls are a matter of prestige for the both the Congress and the BJP. If BJP does well, the prospects of a coalition collapse are high, while on the other hand, if the coalition wins, it will a be a morale booster.
It is precisely this reason why the bigwigs on both sides are strategizing immensely. Be it Siddaramaiah or BS Yeddyurappa, every leader is working hard to see their candidates win.

However, on the other hand, the BJP central leadership has sought the assistance of the BJP state president BS Yeddyurappa for the Delhi Lok Sabha polls.

Delhi will go to polls on May 12 in single phase. So Yeddyurappa will be in Delhi on May 8 to campaign. The plan behind inviting Yeddyurappa is to ensure he appeals to the Kannadiga people in the capital.

“Yeddyurappa has been called to campaign in Delhi. It is no surprise that a man of his calibre and charisma has been asked to seek votes in favour of BJP candidates. Such things are routine. CT Ravi (BJP MLA from Chikkamagaluru) has been called to campaign in Varanasi. Before Karnataka went to polls, leaders from other states also campaigned here. All these are in the best interests of the party,” says Shreenath Sheshadri, a BJP spokesperson.

But Yeddyurappa will fly to Delhi only after the first round of campaigning in the poll-bound Chincholi and Kundagol.
