Hyderabad: Telangana went to polls on April 11 during the Lok Sabha election. State chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao's daughter Kalvakuntla Kavitha stepped in, to contest from Nizamabad constituency seeking a repeat win after her victory in 2014.

Unfortunately for Kavitha, the TRS leader has received only 84,900 votes as BJP candidate Arvind Dharmapuri has already bagged 1,17,521 votes. Congress candidate Madhu Goud Yaskhi has received 1899 votes.

In this constituency, Kalvakuntla Kavitha is up against BJP candidate D Aravind and INC candidate Madhu Goud Yaskhi. After the TRS enjoyed a thumping victory in the State Assembly polls, the party is confident of winning 16 seats in the state.

Prior to polling, about 170 farmers filed nominations for the April 11 polls as a mark of protest, alleging that the ruling TRS had failed to ensure Minimum Support Price for turmeric and red jowar (sorghum) produce and in establishing a turmeric board in Nizamabad.

Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 17 Lok Sabha constituencies in Telangana. Kalvakuntla Kavitha of Telangana Rashtra Samithi seemed confident of a repeat victory despite several protests by farmers.
