Bengaluru: We might safely say academics is for excellence and politics is for good governance. But what happens when the two crash into each other? Well, an accident, or in simple terms, a failure! Ask the BJP Lok Sabha candidate from Kalaburagi and he will tell you how politics of allegation has ruined the career of his daughter.

Umesh Jadhav’s daughter has failed in her pre-university exams. You may think failure and success are a part of a student’s life. You may even attribute certain habits like indolence and procrastination for a student failing to clear the exams.

But in Umesh Jadhav’s case, it is entirely different. In his own words, “My daughter was a rank student. In her college, people kept asking her as to why her father (Umesh Jadhav) had sold himself to the BJP. Pained at this, she fell into depression. Unable to take the harassment, she even tried to commit suicide. Ultimately, she failed in her exams,” he said to reporters.

Not just that, Umesh Jadhav further said that during his son’s marriage, goons of Priyank Kharge (son of Mallikarjun Kharge) had created a ruckus in and that his relatives were forced to flee.

The Congress has persistently and consistently alleged that Umesh Jadhav had taken Rs 50 crore in order to resign from the Congress and join the BJP as its candidate from Kalaburagi.

When he had resigned, Siddaramaiah, the leader of the Congress Legislative Party had even filed a complaint with the speaker Ramesh Kumar. After weeks and weeks of brainstorming over the issue, the speaker finally ruled in favour of Umesh Jadhav, that is to say his resignation was accepted.

Sources say that the fight between Jadhav and Kharge will go down to the wire in Kalaburagi. Jadhav has fielded his son Avinash from Chincholi that is set for bypoll on May 19.
