Dehradun: Journalist and Samachar Plus CEO Umesh Kumar, accused of blackmailing the subjects of his stories, has sought permission from the Dehradun administration to show his sting operations against some state government functionaries in Uttarakhand after the state chief minister challenged a Congress leader to show them on a large screen in the city.

Kumar has sent a letter to Dehradun District Magistrate SA Muruga and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nivedita Kukreti saying if the state government and administration allow him, he is ready to run the sting on some government officials and leaders in the interest of the state.

Kumar’s letter spells troubles for the state government. Kumar was arrested in October for allegedly trying to blackmail individuals on the basis of sting operations done by him.

After this letter, if the state government and administration give the permission to run the videos, the state may once again witness a new political flux.

Recently, Uttarakhand chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat challenged the opposition leader Indira Hridesh to publicly show sting videos on a large screen at the Parade ground.

During the winter session, she had told the state Assembly that she also has a few sting records of the state government, but wouldn’t show them.
