Lucknow: A section of the Uttar Pradesh police has allegedly started a crowdfunding campaign to raise money for covering the legal expenses of the policeman, who on September 29 had shot and killed an Apple techie in Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar area, allegedly in self-defence.

MyNation accessed the account details of constable Prashant Chaudhary’s wife, which corroborates the crowdfunding claims.

In two videos we can see that on September 25, the account had only Rs 447 and on October 1, the account holds more than Rs five lakh.

Prashant Chaudhary and his colleague Sandeep Kumar have been arrested and suspended from duty following the incident.

On the fateful night Apple’s area manager Vivek Tiwari was travelling with a woman colleague when the policemen, allegedly noticing ‘suspicious activity’, signalled him to stop.

However, Tiwari tried to flee, the accused cops claimed, following which Chaudhary shot him with his service pistol. The victim had lost control of the vehicle and hit the cop’s motorcycle before ramming into a pillar.

Tiwari was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Though the policemen claimed that they had been chasing Tiwari’s car, CCTV footage aired by news channel Times Now showed a time gap of almost an hour between the two vehicles.

The victim’s kin, including wife Kalpana, met UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday.

Following, the meeting she said all her demands had been met.

“All my demands have been met. I wanted strict action against the guilty, a job, accommodation, expenses for education of my daughters and my mother-in-law. The CM acceded to all my demands,” she said, according to reports.
