New Delhi: Animal activists are fuming over a video uploaded by a user on social media app Tik Tok where a puppy can be seen being brutally beaten up.

The video was apparently uploaded by a user @anilyadav9642 on the popular lip-sync app. Animal activist flagged the video and informed TikTok about the cruel act perpetrated on an animal. The video was taken off but no action has been initiated against the user or the one who shot it.

Animal activists said that the foreign-based app did not follow any norm. After the video was reported, it was deleted, but there is no detail about the men behind the video, who shot it and uploaded it.

The mobile application is under the scanner in India after several reports said that teenagers, especially girls, were being exposed to disconcerting comments on the medium. TikTok has been slammed for poor content monitoring, with complaints of hate speech being uploaded on the app.

TikTok, which is owned by China’s ByteDance, has become popular with young users in India since its initial release in 2016.
