The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) working president MK Stalin today (2 August) met the owner of the biryani hotel which was attacked by his party members for not serving them free biriyani.

In a good move appreciated by many people, even at a crucial time when DMK president M Karunanidhi is being treated in a Chennai hospital, Stalin met the eatery's owner Prakash and its staff. He also informed them that action had been taken from the party against the accused.

The incident occurred on the night of 31 July, when a group of 11 DMK men including party youth wing secretary Yuvraj, who is also said to be boxer, damaged the property at RR Biryani Hotel. Following a heated argument, they had even assaulted the hotel staff.

The reason behind all this was that they were demanding free biriyani in the name of Karunanidhi, sources said.

Hotel CCTVs have captured the entire incident. Two DMK men can be seen hitting the staff and damaging the property inside the food joint. Another report stated that the fight started when the hotel owner said that they don't have biryani as it was nearing closing time.

Soon after the news was covered by the media, DMK suspended the two DMK men seen in the footage.

K Anbazhagan, the general secretary of DMK released a statement announcing that Yuvraj and a member Dhivakar had been suspended from the party on charges of physically assaulting hotel staff in Virugambakkam.
