New Delhi: Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari and his supporters clashed with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) members at the inauguration of the Signature Bridge here on Sunday.

The clash started after Tiwari's supporters protested against the alleged denial of an invitation to him to the inauguration event. However, Tiwari reached the spot with his supporters, according to reports.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia inaugurated the Signature Bridge over River Yamuna.

"I was invited to the inauguration event. I am MP from here. So what's the problem? Am I a criminal? Why has the police surrounded me? I'm here to welcome him (Arvind Kejriwal). AAP and police have misbehaved with me," Tiwari was quoted as saying by ANI.

"In my constituency (North East Delhi), I re-started construction of the bridge after it was stalled for many years and now Arvind Kejriwal is organising an inauguration ceremony," he said.

Kejriwal took to Twitter and wrote, "Unprecedented. Chaos by BJP at Signature Bridge inauguration site. Its a Del govt prog. Police mute spectator. Can LG, being head of Del police, ensure peace and order at Signature bridge inauguration site? (sic)"

On Friday, Tiwari had said, "I sat on a hunger strike at Khajuri Khas to force the government to expediate the construction. By not inviting the area MP to the inauguration, 'the chief minister has violated the protocol'."
