New Delhi: At a time when the entire Indian Army is planning to go in for restructuring, a major reshuffle is likely to take place at the end of this month, with Eastern Army Commander Lt Gen Abhay Krishna likely to be moved to the Central Command by end of this month.

The reshuffle will take place at the month-end as Central Army Commander Lt Gen BS Negi and his Southern Command counterpart Lt Gen Robin Soni set to superannuate.

“Lt Gen Krishna is likely to be posted for the third time as Army Commander as he is expected to be sent from Kolkata-based Eastern Command to Lucknow-based Central Command. He will be succeeded by Army Training Command Chief Lt Gen MM Narawane,” top government sources told MyNation.

Krishna was first appointed as the South Western Army Commander in Jaipur and then later on shifted to the Eastern Command which looks after the China border including Sikkim, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

The reshuffle is also likely to see the appointment of Lt Gen PS Rajeshwar after elevation to Army Commander-rank as the Southern Army Commander while Lt Gen Sanjiv Chopra is most likely to look after Training Command in Shimla.

The Indian Army is planning to go for massive restructuring and reduce the size of the force to turn it into a leaner and meaner fighting machine.

The Army has seven commands which are headed by Army Commanders who are senior-most lieutenant generals along with the Vice Chief of Army Staff.
