Patna: Congress workers has portrayed its chief Rahul Gandhi as Lord Ram in Patna, Bihar.

The poster shows the Gandhi scion at the centre with photos of other leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Vadra, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh surrounding him.

This comes days ahead of Rahul’s Jan Akanksha rally that is scheduled to take place on February 3 at Gandhi Maidan in Patna.

According to a Times of India report, Congress worker Vijay Kumar Singh, who put up the poster, said, “Rahul ji has all the qualities of Lord Ram and not Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is only doing politics in the name of Lord Ram. The Congress has been working for the development of the country for a long time and all important schemes have been implemented by the party.”

This move by the Congress has the BJP infuriated. Union minister Prakash Javadekar said, "First they need to decide whether they want to play Ram or Ravan; because during the Ram Setu case, they maintained that Lord Ram was a figment of people's imaginations."

In September last year, prior to Rahul’s Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections campaign, posters of the party chief depicted as ‘Shiv Bhakt Rahul Gandhi’ emerged in Bhopal. The posters showed Rahul offering water to a shiv ling and there was a photograph of Mount Kailash in the background.

In another instance, a poster of Rahul was put up by Congress workers last year that depicted him as a Brahmin. In the poster, Rahul’s caste was mentioned as ‘Brahmin Samudayay' below his name, implying that he belongs to the Brahmin community.
