Pranay: Caste politics beats issue of honour killing as people's prime concern
Currently, Amrutha's wish is to have Pranay's statue in a public road in Nalgonda district to remind others of the ills of honour killing in Telangana. But this has led to a caste-based fight. Sadly, the caste which took Pranay's life has come back to haunt the desire of his wife Amrutha.
Dalit groups are said to be trying everything possible to fulfil Amrutha's wish and erect Pranay's statue. But non-Dalits have termed Pranay's murder that took place on September 14, as an incident that is restricted to a family affair. They have said that the society was not involved in Pranay's murder but it was a family issue so even the erection of statue should be in a private place and not public. Supporters have alleged that the idea is being opposed because Pranay was a Dailt. But considering that no one or nothing is above law, the legal procedure should take its course.
