Parents opposed the wedding as the groom was physically challenged. The newly wedded couple requested police protection from Ramanathapuram's district police office, Tamil Nadu.
Ramanathapuram: Jayakumar (28), a fisherman from Thondi, Ramanathapuram district, Tamil Nadu, was in a relationship with a second-year college student Shivasankari (22) for the past two years. As the parents got to know that Jayakumar was physically challenged, Shivasankari's parents opposed the wedding and threatened her to stay away from him. The duo decided to stay in their friend's house and later got married in a church near Tirunelveli on Tuesday (October 23) morning. Now they are knocking the doors of the police station for protection.
