Ghazipur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid down the foundation stone of a medical college in Ghazipur on Saturday and said that the town will get new medical facilities soon.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath also reminded people that the Congress took 70 years to build 17 medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh, whereas the BJP government has built 13 medical colleges, including two AIIMS and other BHU colleges, in 4.5 years.

“In the memory of Vallabhbhai Sardar Patel, soon more colleges are coming up in Lucknow and elsewhere in UP, due to PM's efforts," said Adityanath.

Not only this, but Modi also shut down his critics while addressing a public gathering in the town ahead of Lok Sabha polls.

Amid discontentment of NDA allies over the absence of backward caste leader Maharaja Suheldev Rajbhar’s name on a commemorative postage stamp, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released it with immense respect and paid tribute to the great man.

Modi, while addressing a public gathering at Ghazipur, said that leaders like Sheldev and their contributions towards the society were forgotten by the previous government. However, BJP considers commemoration of such leaders as one of its greatest responsibility.

As a mark of respect, the Prime Minister also said that the stamp will reach every household of the country.

“Maharaja Suheldev belonged to all, and walked taking along everyone,” said PM Modi.

Modi said that chief minister Adityanath also announced a memorial will be made in the town in the name of the Maharaja.

Earlier, Om Prakash Rajbhar, a senior minister in the Yogi Adityanath government and SBSP president, said that he will give Modi’s rally a miss as the stamp didn’t have the full name of Suheldev, which is Maharaja Suheldev Rajbhar and believed that the last titled was deliberately omitted.

The Prime Minister is also expected to inaugurate the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and South Asia Regional Centre (ISARC) in Varanasi. He will also attend the 'One District, One Product Regional Summit' at Deendayal Hastakala Sankul and launch developmental projects worth Rs 508 crore there.
