Model code of conduct: What 4 state governments cannot do until elections are over

The Election Commission today announced the dates of polls to the Assemblies of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram. With this announcement, the four state governments will be debarred from certain activities. Here are the details.

The Election Commission has formed the Model Code of Conduct to keep a set of rules intact. These rules are strictly to be followed by the participants and parties involved directly or indirectly in all elections in India. The ground rules help to clear all loopholes that may otherwise be misused by political parties or candidates.
