Dehradun: As former Union Minister MJ Akbar continues to battle sexual harassment allegations, another senior-level BJP leader is facing the consequences of the #MeToo movement.

Following sexual harassment allegations by a woman party worker, the party has removed him from his post. According to ANI, the BJP central leadership on Sunday removed Sanjay Kumar, party's general secretary in Uttarakhand.

The charges were discussed during a meeting during which it was suggested that he should be immediately removed from his post. Massive protests had erupted in the state against Kumar following the accusations.

The decision was taken by the BJP top brass and was conveyed to the state unit leaders in Uttrakhand. Kumar was then summoned to New Delhi and apprised of the decision taken by the BJP top brass.

The party will soon announce a new general secretary for Uttarakhand.
