Delhi: It seems that Maoists and other terror outfits are trying hard to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Delhi police commissioner Amulya Patnaik has received a message issuing a death threat to Modi on his official email ID. According to sources, the email message has claimed that terrorists will attempt to kill the Prime Minister in November this year.

The mail has been shared with all agencies including Intelligence Bureau and RAW. Intelligence agencies have reportedly confirmed the receipt of the mail.

An investigation has been initiated and based on the IP address, it has been found that the letter has been sent from a north-eastern state.

According to sources involved with Prime Minister's security, there is no change in terms of the number of security personnel deployed, but there is massive change in security drill. Dozens of rallies that will be addressed by Modi are scheduled until December.

This apart, Narendra Modi has already been facing threats from Maoists. An assassination plan hatched by the group recently  came to light.

In June, Pune Police claimed to intercept an internal communication of Maoists, which revealed the assassination conspiracy. According to the police, Maoists were planning a 'Rajiv Gandhi-type' assassination attempt of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Pune Police also mentioned in court that they seized a letter from the residence of one of the five persons they had arrested in connection with the Bhima-Koregaon violence. According to the cops, the email letter was written by one who identified himself as ‘R’ and it was addressed to a person named as ‘Comrade Prakash’. The letter talked about Rajiv Gandhi-type incident and also mentioned about the requirement of Rs 8 crore for procurement of M-4 assault rifle along with four lakh rounds of ammunition for the purpose.
