Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala police have explained that a sexual abuse case cannot be charged against state MLA PK Sasi based on the complaint raised by the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) woman leader. They have submitted a report pointing this to DGP Loknath Behra.

A case cannot be charged since the DYFI leader has not given written complaint to the police. The police had met with the victim where she refused to lodge a written complaint against the MLA.

DYFI woman leader raised a sexual harassment complaint against CPI(M) MLA (Shoranur) PK Sasi in Kerala. The complaint letter was submitted to CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury. The letter stated that MLA Sasi tried to grab her after calling her to Mannarkad area committee office.

Kerala's women panel, in an unexpected statement, has come out in defence of a Communist Party of India (Marxist) MLA, who is facing an allegation of sexual abuse.

Responding to media, State Women's Commission Chairperson MC Josephine made an unexpected statement that "mistakes do happen". "This is nothing new... We are all human beings, and mistakes do happen. People inside the party too may have committed such mistakes."
