‘Missionaries of Jesus’ revealed the photograph of the nun, who had lodged a complaint against Jalandhar bishop to the media. They handed over the photograph with a warning note that they are not responsible if the media published the nun’s photo. The picture was attached with the investigation report submitted by the Church authorities against the protest of nuns in Kochi, Kerala.

This move has courted controversy as there is direction from the Supreme Court banning the revelation of the name or photograph of victims in sexual abuse cases. The report states that the nuns have come forward with a protest as part of a conspiracy against Jalandhar bishop and atheists influenced the nuns.

A Kerala nun had accused bishop Franco Mulakkal of repeatedly abusing her sexually between 2014 and 2016. There are five other nuns of the same congregation, who have supported her claim.

The Kerala Catholic Bishop Council (KCBC) had slammed the nuns' protest, saying that it has crossed all limits. Reports suggest that both the complainant nun and the accused Bishop are members of the Catholic family and the church has said that they share their (nun's and the bishop's) wounds and agony.

The brother of the nun said a relative of Franco Mulakkal and two other priests approached his friend and conveyed that they are willing to pay Rs 5 crore if the nun withdraws her complaint against the bishop.
