Munnar: Sub-Inspector KJ Varghese was transferred to Kattappana, Kerala, for registering a case against CPM MLA S Rajendran for trespassing into Munnar court and creating ruckus.

Meanwhile, police report claims that the transfer was not a punishment for this. Senior officials have explained that the transfer was given as per the request of the SI.

They say that Varghese had demanded a transfer since he lives at Mundakkayam near Kattappana. However, people allege that the transfer is a punishment for his action against the MLA, considering the fact that the transfer order was issued within 24 hours after this incident.

S Rajendran MLA, Devikulam tahsildar PK Shaji, teachers and students of Government college reached the court on Tuesday. They were seeking permission to reopen the government college, which was partially destroyed in a landslide.

MLA asked the staff at the court to give the keys of the rooms upstairs. However, several people, who were accompanying the MLA, destroyed the locks and threw the furniture outside.

Later, they asked the teachers to conduct classes for the students. They attacked Sumi George, a staff member, who was recording these visuals. They also made Sumi delete the photographs and videos. The gang returned only after this. However, Varghese immediately swung into action.
