New Delhi: In a first-of-its-kind exercise, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has introduced war games to train the force better for combats of varying nature on the India-China border.
The games will judge the decision-making skills of commanders giving them war or conflict-like situation.

RK Pachnanda, Director General ITBP, said a proposal has been sent to the home ministry for implementing a comprehensive integrated border management system along the 3,488-km India-China border so that all tech-based tools for border security are put together for better results.

Pachnanda, while speaking at the 57th raising day function of the force, said the move will enhance the professional and operational effectiveness of the force along with surveillance and intelligence gathering skills.

He said the aim is to integrate the surveillance gadgets, long-range reconnaissance devices, radars and cameras onto a smart platform so that technology and gadgets will man large areas of this disputed icy terrain.

The force has also started tactical headquarters for all its border units, which is is a base camp located deep inside the border area and is operated by a senior officer and his armed contingent.

Pachnanda said that they have also opened a maiden intelligence training school to further strengthen its snoop collection capabilities during operations.

Union home minister Rajnath Singh said the government has recently provided "high-powered SUVs, all-terrain vehicles and snow scooters" to the ITBP for enhancing their operational prowess.
