New Delhi: An IPS officers had started giving his dead father ayurvedic treatment since January 14 and claimed that he is responding to it. The shocking incident was reported from Madhya Pradesh.
The deceased has been identified as KM Mishra (84), father of IPS officer Rajendra Mishra. The elderly person was admitted at the Bansal Hospital on January 13 and was being treated by Dr Ashwini Malhotra, said Lokesh Jha, spokesperson for the hospital, as reported.
Unfortunately, Mishra could not make it through the treatment and was declared dead on January 14. His body was released by the hospital along with a death certificate.
However, Rajendra refused to perform his father’s last rites and brought the dead body home. Since then, according to reports, he has been performing ayurvedic treatments on him.
The bizarre incident came to light after jawans of the Special Armed Force posted at Rajendra’s residence for domestic work spoke out about it.
According to India Today, Rajendra claimed that his father had been displaying signs of life and is responding to the treatment.
The news website also reported that Rajendra didn’t allow media to enter his house and said it was a private matter.
Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission had asked the DGP to form a committee to look into the matter and submit a report by February 23.
The committee is expected to constitute three doctors from allopathic and ayurvedic disciplines.
The doctors will be escorted by an SP rank officer. The commission also said that if Rajendra refuses to let them in, action should be taken under relevant sections of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC)and Human Rights Act.
