Udupi-based Hazel Mathias, who was working in Saudi hospital, reportedly died in mysterious circumstances. She had spoken last to her husband Ashwin Mathias (who is in India) on 19 July, and was informed by Hazel's colleague that she is no more on 21 July.

Hazel Jyotsna Mathias, 28, was working at the Al Miqua General Hospital run by the health ministry of Saudi Arabia for the last six years. She hailed from Kuthyaru near Shirva in Udupi district in Karnataka.

The family, including husband Ashwin, father Robert Quadros and mother Helen, has no clue as to what led to Hazel's death.

There has been no communication from the hospital, she has been working in, too. Further details on arrival of the body for cremation and reasons behind the death are awaited.

Hazel got married to Ashwin four years ago and the couple was working in Dubai. But some time ago, Ashwin returned to India and was overlooking the construction of their new house in Udupi.

Hazel had come home during the house warming ceremony and then had visited the family again during Ramzan holidays in June.

The family has now contacted MLC Ivan D'souza and MLA Raghupathi Bhat and have sought help in getting her body back and also find the exact reason of Hazel's death. Both the leaders have conveyed this to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who has promised to get all the information regarding the case.
