The economies of countries that participated in the Second World War lay shattered by 1945. Imperialists began freeing the countries they had been annexing over the previous century. India was among the first, followed by many in the 1950s, 60s, 70s, etc. But coincidentally, August 15 became the Independence Day for quite a few countries. Of course, the years in which they gained freedom were different.
