In a horrifying incident, a 21-year-old woman was raped by 40 people in the Morni Hills area of Panchkula of Haryana. She was held captive for four days. During this time, the woman was continuously administered a sedative via injections. Two accused — the owner and the manager of a guest house in Morni hills in Panchkula — have been arrested in the case on Friday.

After the incident, Haryana Police is accused of turning the woman away when she had first approached the Panchkula Women’s Police Station.

The victim alleges that, despite the complaint, the local police did not take any action and assistant sub-inspector Saraswati asked her to lodge a complaint with the Chandigarh police. Later, Chandigarh police filed a zero FIR and arrested two accused.

The accused had kept the victim hostage at a guest house in the Cambwala village of Morni.

The woman's husband works as a tailor in Chandigarh. The chief accused in the incident, the guest house owner, Sunny, a friend of her husband, offered her a job of cleaning up his farmhouse on a salary of Rs 12,000 a month. Accepting the offer, the victim's husband sent her with Sunny.

On reaching the Lovely Guest House by the car of the accused, Sunny and his manager Avtar Singh raped her. Sunny had intoxicated her. The accused also invited many visitors to the guest house to rape her one by one.

The accused took away the mobile phone of the victim when she tried to call her husband and smashed it. These men raped her continuously for four days between 15 July Saturday and 18 July Wednesday.

The accused let the victim go after which the husband and wife went to Panchkula police for help first. Here, the police did not register their complaint and sent them to Manimajra police station in Chandigarh.

Finally acting on the woman's complaint, an FIR was registered in the Manimajra police station. Chandigarh police had ordered a medical examination which confirmed the rape with the woman. The victim’s statement was recorded before a magistrate on Friday under section 164 of the IPC.  The police have arrested the main accused Sunny and Avtar and they are under judicial custody.

Panchkula Police Commissioner Charu Bali visited the respective police station, took action and suspended the charge of the Morni Police Chowki including the sub-inspector of the women's police station for their negligence. The ASI has also been suspended.
