Hanging bridge collapses in Vagamon, several people injured

Idukki: About 15 people were injured after a hanging bridge collapsed at Kolahalamedu near Vagamon on Saturday. The injured have been rushed to a private hospital in Erattupetta. Three people are severely injured and others sustained minor injuries.

The injured were rushed to the Erattupetta and Kattappana hospitals. The injured are identified as teachers and students of Sunday school in Angamaly. 

Reports say that the number of tourists on the bridge exceeded the permissible number, causing the accident. As per sources, the group refused to follow the instructions of the guide at the spot and barged onto the rope bridge overloading it. The bridge was capable of handling 10 members but around 20 people were on it.
