Gurugram: In a drink-driving check that went wrong, a policeman and a driver were hurt as shards of broken glass injured both.

The photographs are of MG Road of Gurugram, where personnel of the traffic police stopped a vehicle during the drink-driving check, but the driver tried to flee with the vehicle. The traffic personnel broke the glass in front of the car as well as its mirror, injuring the driver’s face in the process.

When our reporters reached the venue, the policemen denied having attacked the car. They claimed that the glasses were already broken.

Drink-driving is certainly a punishable offence, but was the actions of the policemen justified?
