Bengaluru: It’s very common that Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu and his coterie (read Mahaghatbandhan) take jibes at PM Narendra Modi innumerable times for his schemes. But in reality, these very leaders rehash Modi’s schemes in their states and yearn to earn political plaudits.

A classic example in this case is the way Chandrababu Naidu has brazenly tweaked Modi’s PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, to impress the farmers. Under the new scheme tailored by the chief minister, farmers (including tenant farmers) are being offered Rs 10,000 as assured financial assistance every year.

But as envisaged by Modi, the land capping stood at 5 acres to get an assured sum of Rs 6000. Going a step forward, Chandrababu Naidu has invalidated this criterion, by making it open-ended. In addition to it, Naidu is offering Rs 4,000 more per year, increasing the financial assistance to Rs 10,000.

Interestingly, such of those farmers, who do not qualify to be participants in Modi’s scheme, can take home Rs 10,000 as well.

Titled Annadata Sukheebhava, the scheme targets tenant farmers, while it ties up with the central government scheme.
