In a major success, the security forces have eliminated over 100 terrorists in Kashmir this year.
The figure of 100 was achieved with the killing of two terrorists in Tuesday's operations in Kundalan in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district.
“The figure of 101 terrorists killed has been achieved despite the ceasefire, which was observed for one month during the Muslim festival Ramzan,” senior Army sources said.
Among the 101 terrorists killed in the encounters, 26-27 are foreign terrorists, while the others are locals. The encounters have been done under ‘Operation All Out’.
However, sources said that the forces are worried about the increasing number of recruitments taking place locally in the Valley.
In the first seven months of the year, 82 local youths have joined different terror outfits. The highest number of recruitments took place in the month of April when 25 of them joined the terror groups.
The maximum number of recruitments have taken place in the two districts of Shopian and Pulwama, which have traditionally been terror hotbeds.
Last year, 128 youths had joined terror outfits, with Hizbul Mujahideen drawing the highest number of recruits.
