
206 kilograms cannabis seized in international smuggling operation in Tamil Nadu
The seized cannabis weighing about 206 kilograms was about to be smuggled through Tamil Nadu's Ramanathapuram coastal area to Sri Lanka
Ramanathapuram: The Tamil Nadu Police on Wednesday seized 206 kg of cannabis from a smuggler near Ariyaman beach, Ramanathapuram in Tamil Nadu. The smuggler was caught in the wee hours of Wednesday.
Ramanathapuram district superintendent of police, Om Prakash Meena was tipped-off by a witness about a cannabis smuggling operation being carried from Kerala to Sri Lanka via Ramanathapuram coastal area.
The anonymous witness pointed out the accused who identifies as Karthik, a Sri Lankan refugee. Upon interrogation, Karthik was found to have stashed 206 kgs of cannabis in a room. The police later seized the cannabis and handed over the accused to Uchipuli Police Station. A FIR has been filed and further investigation is underway.
