Palakkad: The 27-year-old Adivasi youth, who was said to be "not of sound mind", was beaten to death at Attappadi in Palakkad by a lynch mob which had accused him of theft. The trial of the murder case hasn't started even after one year of his death. The government cancelled the decision to appoint a prosecutor in the case due to the lack of a permanent judge in the SC-ST court in Mannarkadu. This was one of the major reasons for the delay in the trial.

The incident came to light only after a young man named Ubadi TU posted a picture showing him and the deceased Madhu tied to a tree. The picture went viral, with several people criticising the accused.
