This Saturday is a special day. Thirty years ago, the United Nations had decided to observe December 1 as the World AIDS Day all over the globe to raise awareness about the virus.
The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or acquired immunodeficiency syndrome was first cynically diagnosed in 1981. Since then, the infectious virus has been rapidly spreading due to its unawareness. In 1988, the UN declared December 1 as the World AIDS Day to bring about a change in the way society perceives the diagnosed individuals.
The World AIDS Day is a tool to start conversations about the disease in public forums, increase awareness and raise money for the various individuals, who are suffering from it and the organisations working towards eradicating it.
Here are some facts on the World Aids Day and disease.
